Congratulations to the girls from Scoil Maria Assumpta and the boys from Morning Star School who received their First Holy Communion on the morning of Saturday May 19th.

The children and their teachers had spent many weeks preparing for the ceremony. Fr. Murphy and Fr. Nugent concelebrated the First Communion Mass in the parish church. Mrs. Laura O’Sullivan led both schools in singing the beautiful hymns from the Second Class religion programme. The boys and girls were also involved in the readings, the Offertory Procession, the Prayers of the Faithful, the prayers before and after Communion, the reflections and the lovely Circle of Friends dance.

The gifts which were brought to the altar included a selection of toys which reminded the children that it is through their play that they can show generosity and kindness towards one-another.

Afterwards, the girls arrived back to the school with their proud parents to pose for individual and group photographs. The children and their families had a great time at the lovely tea-party which had been organised for them in the Halla by our kind parent volunteers.

Mrs. Sinéad Elliott and her class are really looking forward to staging a fashion show for our pupils and staff on Monday next. The First Communion girls cannot wait to model their gorgeous gowns and pretty accessories. Well done to all of the parents who worked so hard to make sure that their children had a perfect Holy Communion day!
