We would like to thank the members of our newly formed Parents’ Council who organised a ‘Movie Night’ for the senior pupils on the evening of March 9th. The girls watched the film, ‘Diary of a Whimpy Kid’ and they had a great time with their friends. Earlier in the day, the younger children brought their comfy quilts to the Halla and they enjoyed watching the movie, ‘Ballerina’.

Well done to the pre-school girls and boys who had a Pyjama Day last week in order to raise money for Early Childhood Ireland.

Mrs. Barry’s Fourth Class and Miss O’Neill’s Fourth Class have been very busy recently. On March 9th they went on a tour of UCC and were delighted to be invited to participate in a graduation ceremony. On March 13th they competed in Feis Maitiu where they recited the poems ‘Bye Cat’ and ‘Monday’s Child’. The girls could not wait to return to school to announce that they had won second prize in the Action Verse Competition.

On March 15th Mrs. Elliott’s Second Class went along to the Father Matthew Hall to recite their poem, ‘The Wind’, and they also won second prize! We were thrilled to hear the news of their success. Maith sibh go léir, a chailíní!!

Everyone was treated to some great entertainment when pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class took to the stage for our ‘Scoil Maria Assumpta’s Got Talent’ show. Some children sang, others danced, some did gymnastics, others played a musical instrument while others did magic tricks. Fionnuala Linehan and Melanie Kavanagh kindly volunteered to act as judges for the contest. Every participant received a certificate and a lollipop and the overall winners received prizes which were purchased by the members of the Student Council. We are very lucky to have so many talented young performers in our school!

Just before the holidays we had a special Easter raffle. Many thanks to Clair Healy who generously donated an assortment of beautiful Easter egg hampers for the raffle.

The school closed for the holidays on March 23rd and it will reopen on April 9th 2018. Cáisc shona daoibh go léir!
