The Ceremony of Light for the Sixth Class pupils took place in the Halla on Wednesday February 21st.

This beautiful ceremony was held to celebrate the passing on of the Faith to the next generation.

Father Murphy took a flame from the Paschal Candle and lit the girls’ Baptismal Candles. Each parent then handed the lighted candle over to their daughter to symbolise the passing on of the Light of Faith to their child. During the ceremony, special prayers were recited and hymns on the theme of light were sung. We would like to congratulate the girls on reaching this important milestone on the road towards receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The Junior Infants have been enjoying their Happy Talk sessions on Friday mornings. The Happy Talk Speech and Language therapists have compiled a fantastic set of language development strategies for parents to work on at home with their children.

Mrs. O’Sullivan’s Senior Infants heard the legend of the Children of Lir as well as the story of The Ugly Duckling and afterwards they made delightful paper-plate artwork depicting ducks and swans.

Miss Moroney’s Senior Infants have a new student teacher, Sinéad Barrett, working with them this term. Sinéad is a past pupil and we were delighted to welcome her back to Scoil Maria Assumpta.

The Maths for Fun Programme has commenced in First Class and Bean Uí Chonaill would like to thank all of the parents who have kindly volunteered to assist the children with their maths games.

As part of our Mí na Gaeilge celebrations we will be holding a Céilí Mór in the Halla for the children and their families. Eleanor, our Irish dancing teacher, and the children cannot wait to teach the dance steps to all of the moms, dads and grandparents!

Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh go léir!!
