The Junior and Senior Infants had fantastic fun in the garden on May 22nd. Caitríona Kingston arrived early in the morning and got the children to plant little seeds in individual containers. Then everyone planted some potatoes in larger pots. Later, the girls took part in some bird-watching activities. They observed the crows and seagulls who love our school yard and they also watched the swallows who are currently visiting us from far away lands.
The Infant classes seemed to be particularly excited about the ‘Bug Search’. They carefully examined these tiny mini-beasts with their magnifying glasses and then returned them safely to their homes.
It was great that so many of the parents and grandparents of the children were able to take part in this lovely exploration of nature in our garden.
We held a ‘No Uniform Day’ on May 26th in conjunction with Cork’s 96 FM Giving for Living Radiothon. Our generous pupils were very willing to donate some of their pocket money in order to support cancer services in Cork.
Congratulations to all of the boys and girls who graduated from our pre-school at the end of May. On the morning of the graduation ceremony, the children entertained their families with a delightful selection of songs before being presented with their diplomas. The preschoolers looked incredibly cute in their blue and red caps and gowns as they posed for photos with their parents and grandparents. Well done to the staff of the pre-school for all of their great work with the children throughout the year.
