On Thursday April 27th we held a Blue Day to highlight Autism Awareness. Everyone came to school dressed in blue outfits and Miss Hegarty ordered lovely blue noses for all of us to wear. Blue paint, blue card and other blue materials were used during our art and craft activities.

The children and their teachers had so much fun in the Halla when Ms. Holland’s Sixth Class girls taught the entire school how to dance and sing along to the pop song, ‘I’m Blue’ by Eiffel 65. Then everybody went up to the camogie pitch and walked or ran around the perimeter until they were totally puffed!

The boys and girls were asked to donate two euro to help raise funds for the Irish Autism Action charity. A portion of the money will be set aside to assist with the cost of running our own ASD Unit. The total amount of money collected was 300 euro. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir!

Children in all classes have been enjoying the warm Summer sunshine. They really love their trips to the playing field at lunchtime. The teachers have begun taking the pupils outside for some of their lessons. Everyone seems to have developed a renewed interest in nature. The Senior Infants are very proud of the fantastic ‘Palaces’ and ‘Mansions’ which they made for the birds. We commend them on their care and concern for the welfare of God’s little creatures.
