The children had fantastic fun with the ‘Guess the Staff’ fundraising competition which took place in the school recently. We were amazed by how determined and persuasive our pupils became in their efforts to identify each of the staff members from their delightful childhood photographs. Parents were also enlisted to help solve the mystery behind each picture. The task they were set was quite difficult since the teachers themselves could not recognise each other! Eventually, after many weeks of meticulously analysing the photos, each and every member of staff was identified and prizes were awarded to the children with the most correct answers. Congratulations to Emily Hewitt from First Class and Alix Mendez from Sixth Class who were the overall winners of the competition. Well done to Mrs. Laura O’Sullivan who organised this great event and many thanks to everyone who brought in donations to support the school.
The Scoil Maria Assumpta soccer team enjoyed a lot of success recently. The girls won each of their matches when they played in Carrigaline and in Midleton. They were also victorious in the final of the FAI SPAR Soccer Five–a-Side tournament which was played on April 26th in Turners Cross. We are very proud of our young players who will now go forward to represent Cork in the Munster FAI competition. We are most grateful to our fantastic soccer coaches Miss Alana Hegarty, Ms. Barbra O’Connell and Mr. John McHale. Maith sibh go léir!
