Our junior classes took part in the 2017 Cór Fhéile na Scol on the evening of Tuesday March 28th. The children entertained the large audience with a charming and up-lifting performance based on the theme of ‘Weather’. The Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class took to the stage wearing their pretty raincoats and wellies and twirling their multi-coloured umbrellas. They began with a delightful rendition of ‘Little April Showers’ and then they sang ‘as Gaeilge’ about ‘An Aimsir’. They concluded their performance with a very lively and dramatic version of ‘Outdoors’. The girls loved the experience of singing and acting on the enormous stage of the City Hall and it was a night they will no doubt remember for years to come. The children also enjoyed the chocolate treats and drinks which Mrs. Fitzsimons brought along for them. Well done to our little people who managed to stay awake and alert when it was well past their bedtime!
There were more treats for everyone when our Confirmation class bought sweets for all of the boys and girls. It was very nice to see our senior pupils spending their money so generously and taking the time to make up so many ‘Goody Bags’ for their school-mates.
Bean Uí Chonaill’s First Class girls and their parents had a lovely time in the garden on March 27th when they did some planting with Catríona Kingston. They filled several large containers with violas, primulas, carnations, ivy and alpines and displayed them on the bars in the school yard. They also helped to fill a beautiful three tier French style planter which will certainly add a splash of colour to the playground.
The school closed for the holidays on April 7th and it will reopen on Monday April 24th 2017. We would like to wish everyone a wonderful Easter from all at Scoil Maria Assumpta!
