We would like to congratulate our Sixth Class girls and the boys from Morning Star School who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on March 23rd 2017. It was a most memorable and moving occasion for the pupils and their families. Every child played their own special part in the beautiful ceremony by reading from Scripture, by reciting the Prayers of the Faithful, by singing, by participating in the Procession of the Gifts or by playing a musical instrument. The Fifth Class girls and boys also lent their melodious voices while the hymns were being sung. The children were confirmed by Archbishop Coveney who was assisted by Father Murphy and Father Nugent. We wish to thank Ms. Hilary Holland, Mr. Pat McSweeney, Ms. Jacinta O’Leary, Mrs. Laura O’Sullivan and Ms. Karen Haussmann for preparing the Confirmation candidates with such diligence and dedication. May the Gifts of the Holy Spirit strengthen and sustain our pupils throughout their lives.
Well done to Mrs. Elliott’s Third Class who recently held a Cake Sale and raised 390 euro for the school. The quality of the home baking was superb and we dicovered that the girls are charming sales-people too!
Everyone has been admiring the fantastic 3D models of the solar system which Mrs. Griffin’s Fifth Class made as part of their science project on the planets.
Mrs. Barry’s Fourth Class girls took part in Feis Maitiu on March 22nd. They had prepared ‘The School Kid’s Rap’, by John Foster, and ‘On Water’, by John O’Donnell, for the feis. We were very proud of the girls’ expressive and dramatic recitation of both poems and it was evident that the children really enjoyed entertaining the audience. They could not wait to return to school to inform their teachers and school-mates that they had come second in the competition. Maith sibh, a chailíní!
