Mrs. Griffin and the winners of the Professor Fluffy Bookmark Competition had a lovely time at UCC on March 2nd. The girls were invited to attend the Bookmark Launch in the Creative Zone of the Boole Library with pupils from four other Cork schools.
Ciara Forde won Fifth Prize for her delightful bookmark depicting Professor Fluffy and she has earned for her class a visit to the Professor Fuffy Roadshow. Emma Dineen and Sophie Mc Carthy received runner-up prizes for their great drawings of the UCC crest and Professor Fluffy learning his numbers and ABCs.
The judges presented each of the girls with a beautiful printed copy of her artwork. Then they enjoyed some chocolate muffins and juice with the other children. Ciara, Emma and Sophie could not wait to get back to school to tell their classmates all about their trip and to show them the big bunch of UCC balloons which they were given as a souvenir.
First Class have been using all the Irish words they know and Bean Uí Chonaill is very impressed by how much they have learned since September. During Seachtain na Gaeilge they sang their Irish songs and engaged in little role plays ‘as Gaeilge’.
The annual Céilí Mór was held in the Halla on March 16th. Eleanor O’Brien, our Irish Dancing teacher, had prepared the children well and they had practiced dancing the Seige of Ennis, The Walls of Limerick, The Sweets of May and Lannigan’s Ball. The girls and boys were delighted to be able to teach their parents and grandparents the steps when they arrived to join in the fun on Thursday. Bhí an-sport againn agus bhíomar ag tnúth go mór le Lá le Pádraig tar éis an damhsa agus an craic go léir!
