We were delighted to see how much time and effort our Fifth and Sixth Class pupils put into the creation of their local history projects. On February 16th a special award ceremony was held in the school to announce the winning entries of the history competition. Former Deputy Principal, Mrs. Eileen Moynihan, presented the beautiful Moynihan Cup to Abbi Brady and Evie Middleton for their project on St. Finbarre’s Cathedral. The girls collabrated on the construction of a truly magnificent replica of the cathedral complete with lights and the famous Golden Angel.
Kylie Chen, Erin O’Connor, Abbey Hickey and Amy O’Sullivan-Crowley were awarded certificates of merit for their projects on Thomas Kent and the 1916 Rising, The Irish Guide Dog Association and University College Cork.
John, from the Ballyphehane Credit Union, received a very enthusiastic welcome on February 17th when he arrived to announce the winners of the annual art competition. Congratulations to our talented artists, Zoe Adeshina, Kylie Chen, Amy O’Sullivan-Crowley, Clíona Marshall, Ola Kulesza, Sophia O’Leary, Brooke Mc Carthy, Leah Cotter and Evelyn Hewitt. These lucky winners each received a ten euro Eason voucher and their work will be displayed in the Credit Union. Maith sibh go léir, a chailíní !
