Our Sixth Class pupils visited the Triskel Arts Centre on January 27th to enjoy a special musical treat. The girls attended a wonderful piano recital of one of Mozart’s Sonatas which was performed by Dr. Fionnuala Moynihan. Mrs. Eileen Moynihan, former Deputy Principal of Scoil Maria Assumpta, is Fionnuala’s mom. Mrs. Moynihan very kindly purchased a recital ticket for every pupil in Sixth Class. We are so grateful to Eileen for her exceptional generosity and to Fionnuala for her magical performance. Ms. Holland and Ms. Flynn accompanied the girls on their trip to the theatre and they were delighted to meet former principals Nancy Bean Uí Mhurchú, Mrs. Judy Mc Carthy and Mrs. Mary Deely who also attended this lovely lunchtime recital.
A lot of delightful St. Valentine’s Day art has been appearing around the school. We really liked the super sweet little collage hearts which Ms. Moroney’s boys displayed outside their room. Miss Hegarty’s Class have created amazing pictures for their display board. Each child used a photo of herself and made some Valentine hearts which were depicted blowing in the wind towards their moms, dads, nanas and grandads. They cannot wait to bring their artwork home on February 14th.
Well done to our Fourth Class who organised a very successful cake sale last week. The girls produced a huge selection of delicious cupcakes, cookies and traybakes which were in great demand with the children from the other classes. Mrs. Barry was so pleased and proud to announce that her class managed to raise a grand total of 400 euros in aid of the school. Maith sibh go léir, a chailíní!
