The Senior Infants were delighted to welcome a special visitor named Rainbow to their room. Rainbow is a lovely, brightly-coloured teddy who is very cute and cuddly. Each day one girl will bring Rainbow home to meet her family. Then they will write a little story about the wonderful adventures they have had with their furry friend. Rainbow is such a lucky bear to be visiting so many homes in Ballyphehane!
The soccer season has just begun for the girls in our senior classes. The players will be trained by Barbara O’Connell and Alana Hegarty and they will take part in the SPAR FAI tournament. We are hoping for lots of success on the playing field since several of our excellent GAA players have joined the team.
The Lord Mayor has just sent us one of the Positivity Boxes which he had promised to deliver to all the schools in the city. Cllr. Cahill would like each child to write a happy/positive note and place it in the box. At the end of April, the messages will be read out at a special assembly. One of the positive notes will be selected and submitted to the Evening Echo. The newspaper will then run a double page displaying a positive thought from each primary and secondary school across Cork City.
Second Class began their swimming lessons this month.
They are having lots of fun and learning a great deal during their weekly visits to the Mayfield pool.
Fifth Class have been attending sports lessons regularly in Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa. The girls are really benefitting from these lessons as well as their brisk walks to and from the college.
The Junior Infants are thoroughly enjoying their visits to the Aistear Room where they are playing so cooperatively and creatively in small groups with their classmates. Everyone has remarked on how much progress the girls have made since their arrival in school just five short months ago. Tús maith leath na hoibre!
