Charlotte Meaney and the talented ladies of the Knitting and Crochet Group have been very busy producing handmade Christmas tree decorations. These unique and beautiful works of art are on display outside the principal’s office and they may be purchased as part of our fundraising campaign. The decorations will most certainly make lovely gifts for family and friends.
Angela Jordan’s Sewing Group meets in the Parents’ Room every Wednesday and they have created an exquisite quilt for a child’s bed. This quilt will be one of the prizes in our Christmas raffle. Turkey vouchers, food vouchers, boxes of chocolates and several other seasonal treats will also be included in the raffle.
Mrs Griffin has been teaching Fifth Class how to knit and the girls are so proud of the little pieces which they have made in school. It is wonderful to see that the traditional hand crafts are being passed on to another generation of children.
Our Parent/Teacher meetings on November 30th and December 1st were very well attended. We would like to thank all of the moms, dads and grandparents for their cooperation, assistance and support.
Mrs. Laura O’Sullivan’s Second Class have been enjoying their ‘Get Fit’ classes with Trish Mc Carthy on Thursday mornings. The girls parents have been invited to come along to these classes. Trish has organised a very energising programme of aerobic and dance exercises for the group.
Second Class have also been busy working as scientists. They spent a lot of time investigating air pressure, refraction of light, chemical reactions and photosynthesis. They were amazed with the results of their experiments and they are beginning to really appreciate the magic of science.
Bean Uí Chonaill’s First Class have been looking forward to their weekly Maths for Fun lessons with their parents. The girls enjoyed playing lots of interesting board games based on the concepts of shape and number.
Miss Roslyn Coughlan has been delighted by the high level of attendance at the Junior Infant Happy Talk sessions. She is so pleased with the very positive response of our parents to this worthwhile language initiative.
