On October 6th Mrs. Barry’s Fourth Class visited the City Hall to take part in a workshop organised by the Road Safety Authority. The workshop was held in the Millenium Hall and the girls learned many interesting facts about staying safe on the road. They were surprised to discover that a child needs to be 150cm tall in order to sit in the front seat of a car. Our pupils were thrilled to be presented with lovely Safety Licence Cards which displayed each child’s name and photograph. They also thoroughly enjoyed dressing up and pretending to follow the rules of the road in a make-believe village.
During National Road Safety Week Mrs. O’Sullivan’s Second Class learned how to keep themselves and others away from harmful situations on the roads. They learned that we need to be responsible when we are walking and cycling or when we are passengers in a car or bus.
Beautiful art displays are beginning to pop up around the school. Many pieces of artwork have autumnal themes and colours. The Senior Infants read ‘The Bumpy Little Pumpkin’ by Margery Cuyler and created fantastic pumpkins with lots and lots of teeth. We also noticed how well Bean Uí Chonaill’s First Class girls collaborated to create a giant giraffe and a pelican after they had read ‘The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me’ by Roald Dahl.
On October 11th the school football team made us very proud once again by winning their match with Gaeilscoil Uí Drisceoil from Glanmire. All of the pupils from Fifth and Sixth Class went along to the game to support our talented players who have now reached the final of the tournament. Maith sibh go léir!
