Last week, Niamh, who is a Speech and Language Therapist with the Happy Talk Team, visited the school. Throughout the course of the year, Niamh will collaborate with our Junior Infant pupils, their parents and teachers to enhance the children’s speech, language and communication skills. The Happy Talk Team will also provide Language Rich Environment Resources to the school to promote positive interactions between adults and children as they learn to communicate more skillfully with one another.

Ms. Moroney’s Junior Infant class have been enjoying their visits to the Aistear Room. The theme being explored at present is ‘The Restaurant’. The boys love to dress up as chefs and waiters to serve their hungry customers. The children also like to engage in small world play with their friends and they are getting so good at sharing and taking turns patiently.

The junior classes appear to have an intense appreciation of the wonder of nature. Each day they are out and about examining trees and plants, birdwatching or collecting vast quantities of chestnuts with great enthusiasm.

Well done to the Scoil Maria Assumpta football team who are currently at the top of the league table. They had victories over Star of the Sea School, Passage West and Scoil Bhríde, Crosshaven. Miss Alanna Hegarty, our football trainer, is so proud of her players.

Mrs. Griffin’s Fifth Class organised a cake sale on September 30th. All of the girls got very involved in the event. It was evident that they thoroughly enjoyed creating their ‘Díolachán Cácaí’ posters, baking, setting tables and selling their scrumptious confectionery to  school-mates and staff.
