Sophie Thompson from Sixth Class had a fantastic time at the All Ireland Football Final when she played at half-time with other young people from schools around the country. Sophie wore the green and red of Mayo for the game. It was an amazing experience to play before a full capacity crowd in Croke Park and it was such a proud day for Sophie’s parents and her family. Maith thú, Sophie!

Our Coffee Morning, which was held in the Parents Room on September 16th, was very enjoyable. Parents, staff and visitors tucked into a delicious selection of cakes, cookies and pastries -all in a very good cause. We would like to thank everyone who baked or contributed in any way to this fundraiser and helped to raise a total of 370 euro for Marymount Hospice. Well done to Mrs. Anne Howard who organised the event and to Mrs. Claire Healy who made sure that nobody went away hungry!

Our little Junior Infants have been adjusting well to the longer school day. The children are exceptionally enthusiastic learners and they look forward eagerly to all of the activities that have been organised for them in ‘Big School’.

Fifth Class and Third Class are delighted to have resumed their weekly swimming lessons in the Mayfield Pool and the girls are making fine progress in the water.

Our Scoil Maria Assumpta football team played their first match of the Sciath na Scol tournament on September 20th. They returned to school in great cheer having won the game with Our Lady of Lourdes  School, Ballinlough. We are all anticipating a very successful season. Scoil Maria Assumpta Abú!
