Miss Alana Hegarty has taken on the role of football and camogie coach this year. The girls have already enjoyed some intensive after-school training sessions.
Miss Hegarty is so pleased to be ably assisted by Denise Walsh from the Ballyphehane GAA Club.
Last week we welcomed the return of Tara O’ Connor, our Speech and Drama teacher. Tara is planning some lovely activities for the children throughout the new term.
The apple tree in the garden produced a great crop of fruit this year. Each class was invited to go outside to pick the apples and sample the delicious blackberries and raspberries which are so plentiful in our little school plot.
Second Class have begun learning about ‘The Body’ and ‘The Five Senses’. They had fun conducting scientific experiments using each of their senses. The girls learned about Pointillism in art and the famous artist, Seurat. They produced some very interesting designs by imitating the techniques of Pointillism.
Mrs. Griffin and her girls were delighted to welcome a new pupil, Kate, into Fifth Class. Kate comes all the way from Haiti and speaks French. The girls are doing everything they can to involve Kate in their activities and to make her feel at home. The teachers are also having lots of fun chatting with Kate and brushing up on their French language skills. C’est merveilleux!
