On March 19th our Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Class pupils took part in the 2015 Cór Fhéile na Scol. They opened their show with ‘Riptide as Gaeilge’ which was inspired by the students of Coláiste Lurgan. They then went on to perform a lively medley of songs from ‘Gypsy’ the musical. They sang and danced their way through, ‘Let Me Entertain You’, ‘Together Forever’, ‘Newspaper Boys’ and ‘If Momma got Married’. The girls certainly did entertain the large audience in the City Hall and we are very proud of their powerful performance. Well done to their Speech and Drama teacher, Karen Cotter and to class teachers, Miss O’Donoghue, Miss Coughlan and Mrs. Claffey for their commitment and dedication. We hope that everyone enjoyed the ice-creams which our principal, Mrs. Fitzsimons, bought for the school on Cór Fheile night!

Third Class have been looking forward eagerly to their weekly art and craft sessions organised by Lorraine Mullins. Each Friday morning the Art Room becomes a hive of activity as the girls and their parents create and construct together. Beautiful butterflies and charming robots were designed from recycled materials as well as cute and cuddly Easter bunnies which were made from old socks.

Congratulations to our Sixth Class pupils who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Monday March 23rd along with the boys of Morning Star Primary School.

It was a most memorable occasion for the children and their families. We pray that God will bless the girls and boys throughout their lives. May the Holy Spirit, who gives us the gifts of wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, knowledge, reverence and wonder, guide the children when they encounter the challenges of life. Many thanks to Bishop Buckley, Canon Murphy and Fr. Kaz for the beautiful concelebrated Mass. Well done to Miss Coughlan and to our Fifth Class choir for their lovely singing. We are grateful to Mrs. Laura O’ Sullivan for her musical accompaniment and to Valerie from Morning Star School for all of her assistance. Special words of praise must go to the teachers of the Confirmation candidates, Miss Ann O’ Donoghue and Mr. Pat Mc Sweeney, who prepared the children so meticulously. Finally, we would like to thank the moms, dads and grandparents who are always there to support us in so many ways.

The school closed for the Easter Holidays on Friday March 27th and it will reopen on Monday April 13th 2015. Cáisc shona daoibh go léir!
